Tom Davis is a former elite judoka who represented Great Britain on the international stage for over 12 years, earning British and Commonwealth titles and building a reputation for grit, discipline and determination.

Tom’s sporting journey began in childhood, fuelled by boundless energy and a love for movement. Encouraged by his mum to try a wide range of sports, Tom developed a broad foundation in physical activity. But it wasn’t until he was 17, inspired by the high achievers at his local judo club, that he found his true passion and set himself the challenge of earning a black belt.

Within just four months, Tom had reached that goal – the first of many. His drive and potential saw him selected to represent Great Britain, and he dedicated himself fully to his training. A strategic shift in weight category from -100kg to -81kg proved a pivotal moment, unlocking a new level of performance. In 2005, Tom reached the peak of his competitive career, winning both the Commonwealth Judo Championships and the British Championships.

Though selected as reserve for both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games, Tom’s journey is a powerful testament to the resilience it takes to compete at the highest level and the mindset needed to bounce back from disappointment with purpose.

Today, Tom channels the lessons learned from his judo career into inspiring and empowering young people. His story of late discovery, rapid progress and unwavering commitment shows that it’s never too late to set big goals – and that success often comes from the courage to keep going, even when the odds are tough.
