Trained as part of the GB centralised programme at Bisham Abbey NSC in the lead up to London 2012 and has recently been selected for the squad in the build up to Rio 2016.
Kirsty played football competitively at junior school and took up athletics at the age of 8. She was always out and about as a child playing with all of the boys, usually beating them across most sports!
Although, she loved most sports, hockey just did not interest her but she gave into peer pressure when her friends were stuck for a GK in a match. Due to the level she was playing at in football, they thought her skills would transfer directly into goal. They were correct and her PE teacher (an England U/16 hockey manager) saw her potential and decided to coach her.
Later, aged 11, Kirsty was representing her U/14 county XI and a year later she found herself representing her country, the youngest GK to be ever selected for England U/16. She gained her first GB cap 2009 and represented England through the National age group programmes, played in the Junior World Cup, and has been most successful within the England Indoor Squads winning gold in France in 2009.

Kirsty was a great Sporting champion. She really engaged with the children and was the perfect role model, not only with her tales of her experiences on the pitch but with her example and enthusiasm at the event itself.
