Montell is a former Sprinter for Great Britain and the current leading Brakewoman for the Great Britain Bobsleigh Team.

After two decades of excelling in athletics at a world-class level, Montell transitioned out of the sport at the age of 31 and swiftly proved her worth in a new arena. Bagging a Europe Gold for GB and clinching a spot in the top 10 rankings globally, she became a valuable addition.

Her debut in bobsleigh for GB happened in mid-January 2017, mere days after her first encounter with a sled on the ice. A remarkable top-10 finish marked her World Cup debut, followed by a seventh-place finish in St. Moritz and an impressive Europa Cup victory by the month’s end. This triumph marked GB’s first EC gold in seven years, occurring just a fortnight after Montell’s debut on the international stage.

Despite undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury just six months prior, Montell was selected as the reserve athlete for the 2018 Games in PyeongChang, adding a Winter Olympic involvement to her summer appearances. Her achievements soared further with a career-high fourth-place finish in the World Cup race in Altenberg in January 2019, and she now boasts two World Championship appearances.
