Kylie Grimes MBE is the first ever female Paralympic Wheelchair rugby Gold Medallist.
Kylie Grimes MBE is a triple Paralympian of the London, Rio and Tokyo games. While she competed in Athletics in Rio, her passion for team sports has seen her return to her first love of wheelchair rugby.
She switched to Athletics after London 2012 and competed in the World Championships in Doha in 2015; the Rio Paralympics in Rio, where she finished fourth; and the London World Championships in 2017 where she came fifth.
Returning to her team in 2018, she and the British Wheelchair Rugby Team won gold in Denmark to become the European Champions and qualify for Tokyo 2020.
The team made history this year by being the first European team to ever win a Paralympic medal in wheelchair rugby and Kylie made history by becoming the first female to ever win Gold in wheelchair rugby.
Kylie’s dream of becoming a Paralympic champion finally came true in August 2021 after thirteen years of being an elite athlete.

Kylie is a fantastic and inspirational speaker. She spoke honestly and openly about her experiences as an athlete, providing RFU staff with both valuable insights and a greater awareness of what they can be doing to make Rugby more inclusive and accessible.
We asked Kylie to join us at our annual Global Sales Summit as a guest speaker to share her ‘Journey To Gold’ with the team. Kylie aligned to our theme of ‘Think Big, Learn Fast’ and the feedback has been extremely positive. Not only does Kylie take you through her journey from the very start (before her accident) to the current day, but right through the detail of all of the ups and downs, challenges, setbacks, opportunities and celebrations. Her appetite for success and her boundless motivation is inspiration. Finally, it was a real ‘human’ story with emotion, this really captivated the audience throughout.
