Hannah Beharry is a motivational speaker, athlete mentor, personal trainer and one of the first women to box for Great Britain.
Success isn’t handed out freely; it’s something you have to work for. Few understand this truth better than Hannah Beharry.
From the tender age of 6, Hannah endured bullying, grappled with dyslexia and ADHD, and faced discouragement, being repeatedly told that her dreams were out of reach because of her gender. Despite the world’s doubts, Hannah refused to yield. Instead, she pursued her passion and stepped into the boxing ring for the first time in 2005.
Through sheer determination, Hannah rose above adversity to become one of the most prominent female boxers in the UK. Her list of accomplishments speaks volumes:
Every athlete faces tough times, whether it’s injury, defeat, or personal challenges. In this talk, our athletes open up about the adversity they have experienced and how they found the strength to bounce back. Pupils will learn about the importance of resilience, determination, and staying positive in difficult situations. These are valuable lessons they can use in school, sport, and life.
Behind every athlete’s success is the importance of looking after their mind as well as their body. In this honest and supportive talk, our athletes open up about how they manage pressure, deal with setbacks, and stay mentally healthy. Pupils will hear positive, practical advice on looking after their own wellbeing, coping with stress, and the importance of speaking up and supporting each other.
Motivation plays a huge role in helping athletes perform at their best, and the same is true in the classroom. In this session, our athletes explain how they stay motivated in tough moments and what drives them to succeed. Pupils will pick up practical ideas for staying focused, setting personal goals, and using motivation to improve their own performance at school and in life.
Hannah’s visit went down a storm! She was absolutely inspirational. The kids loved it and so did the staff. She was extremely professional and thoughtful. Her talk was clearly well thought through . One of the best visitors we have had in my personal opinion. She spoke for about 40 minutes and for our kids that was a long time to sit still and listen but they certainly did because they were so engaged. I wish I could do that! The Dream Books were important: the kids did some research beforehand so were excited abut her visit. They loved having their books signed.
It was so amazing to have Hannah come down and give a speech around her journey she not only inspired our young people but made them all feel that they could achieve what she did. Thank you for sharing such an Inspirational journey.”
