Cornelia Oosthuizen is a former Army Major turned elite athlete whose story is a powerful example of courage, resilience and determination.
After a successful military career, Cornelia faced a life changing injury while representing the forces in sport. In 2015, she developed a complex pain condition that led to her making the brave decision to have her leg amputated in order to move forward with her life.
Instead of giving up, Cornelia channelled her energy into sport and recovery. Within just two years, she was selected to represent Team GB at the Invictus Games in Toronto, where she won a bronze medal in tennis. Even more incredibly, she won gold in golf after only four months of playing, a real testament to mindset, self belief and perseverance.
Now, Cornelia inspires young people across the UK by sharing her journey and showing how setbacks can be turned into new beginnings. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field or in life, her message is simple: believe in yourself, back your decisions and never let obstacles define who you are.
