Dr Talan Skeels-Piggins is a Paralympian, World Champion motorcycle racer, and former Royal Navy Lieutenant who brings powerful lessons in resilience, leadership and overcoming adversity to every audience he meets.
After a motorcycle accident in 2003 left him paralysed from the chest down, Talan set a bold goal just days later: to compete at the Winter Paralympics. Seven years on, he represented Great Britain in alpine skiing at Vancouver 2010, going on to win European and international titles.
Determined to push boundaries, Talan became the first paraplegic to race a motorcycle against non-disabled riders, winning two World Championships in the process. He also made military history by becoming the first paraplegic to be retained on active service in the Royal Navy, setting a new standard for inclusion in defence.
In 2011, Talan founded The Bike Experience, the world’s first charity helping disabled people to ride motorcycles – restoring confidence and independence to hundreds. He also mentors future Olympians and Paralympians through The True Athlete Project, guiding them to perform with resilience and purpose.
Whether he’s on the slopes, the racetrack, or the stage, Talan inspires others to reframe challenge and lead with strength. His talks blend real-life grit with practical tools, leaving students, staff and teams energised and ready to face whatever comes next.
