Bobby White works for the England Handball Association, coaching on the AASE Program in Bedford and he’s also involved in developing Handball in Milton Keynes and Bedford area.
In 2007, Bobby was shortlisted from over 2,500 applicants for UK Sport’s Sporting Giants talent campaign. The aim of which was to recruit athletes with the potential of representing Team GB at the 2012 Olympic Games.
The program focussed specifically on athletes over 6’3’’ who could possibly help bolster the Handball, Volleyball and Rowing teams. Although he had never played the sport before 2007, Bobby’s progress was exponential and after two years at the GB Handball Academy based in Denmark, he went to on to play professionally for clubs in Greece and France.
Bobby White captained Team GB Handball at London 2012, the first time Great Britain had entered a Handball Team at an Olympics. Despite not reaching the podium, the main goal was to introduce the British public to this fantastic sport and build a lasting legacy which will see Team GB continue to challenge the best Handball teams in the world in future Olympic Games.
Bobby made a real impact on young people’s lives and raised their aspirations whilst working on the Sporting Champions programme; he’s now looking to inspire your audience by sharing his secret of what it takes to be the best you can be!
